Cuttle-Collective

Cuttlefish have an extraordinary ability to camouflage into their surroundings, they mimic texture, patter, and color. These organisms employ this skill to communicate with each other, and avoid predation. This behavior allows them to survive.
I have grown to admire these marine mollusks, making them the focus of this body of work. This obsession has led me to open up a dialogue about survival with other artists. I approach an artist and ask them if they would like to participate in this project. They have the freedom to finish the work in their medium of choice or in a traditional ceramic fashion. The themes of this work is to observe the path my contemporaries take to finishing these objects. To show the viewer the different avenues that one navigates to survive in society, the defense mechanisms one employs to deal with the environments they inhabit.
